Vincenzo Garofalo was born in Messina on July 30th November 1958.

Married with three children, he graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Palermo.

After the experience gained as a Manager in Garofalo Spa, a private company in the sector of marketing of motor vehicles and after-sales services, he was President of the Board of Directors of the Autonomous Housing Institute of Messina Province and of the Board of Directors of Federcasa Servizi Srl in Rome.

He is co-owner of the “Garofalo & Tortorella Ingegneri Associati”, an engineering firm specialized in the sectors of plant engineering applied to transport and to civil, industrial, hotel, hospital, naval, lighting and energy construction.

From 2003 to 2007 he was President of the Messina - Milazzo Port Authority.

From 2004 to 2006 he was Vice President of Assoporti with responsibility for technical-nautical services and security and in 2007 again Vice President of Assoporti.

From 2008 to 2018 he was twice elected Member of the Italian Parliament. During his term he has dealt  with maritime transport and intermodality, logistics, Marebonus and Ferrobonus, reform of the port system, infrastructures (reform of the Procurement Law, Ten-T corridors) and pleasure boating.

From 2013 to 2018 he was appointed as member of the Transport, Post and Telecommunications Commission – where he also served as Vice President from 2015 to 2018 – and of the Environment, Territory and Public Works Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.

In 2015 he was also appointed as Expert of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure for the infrastructural works in the Southern Regions.

By decree of the Minister of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility, he has been appointed President of the Central Adriatic Ports Authority.
